CCE Project Management Semester I Course Closure (Update)
The CPUT CCE short course in project management (Cape Campus) was the first short course to register on the new VC website in 2008 and quite sadly for me this course came to an end this evening. Final assignments were returned and most students waited in anticipation for their final course results. In a first VC awarded 11 merit awards / vouchers to 10 students who received distinctions (75% and higher for their overall course mark). | S P A C E R | Three students amongst this group also passed their final assignment with an excellent 80%. One student received a special merit award for continuous individual improvement. The vouchers for up to R500 may be redeemed at any VC lectured course anywhere in Cape Town until the end of the 2009 academic year. All 33 students on the course received a R100 VC voucher each towards any future VC course of their choice. It was once again a privilege to facilitate project management to such a focused class of individuals. I wish them the best with their careers and are looking forward to be of service on any future VC short course they may attend. Award winners. |

Excellent course!
Would recommend to anyone, who wants to achieve, both in life and business as it gives you a tried and tested methodology to achieve ones goals.
Follow these basic steps rigidly, and you will be able to asses the benefits and risks before, and not during the project. 90% planning 10% do.
The energy and enthusiasm in which Vernon portrayed during the lectures had a huge impact on the success of this course.
The course was well structured, with excellent course content, presentation and administration by Vernon Chalmers.

Hi Vernon,
I must concur with the comments above. One of if not the best prepared, presented and organised course I have had the privilege of attending.
I feel there are many lessons other lecturers and educators could take from your style of delivery.
I really found the web site to be an extremely useful and efficient tool extending lecturer availability way beyond the Monday evenings. I am only sorry this type of contact and information dissemination was not available during my Degree studies.
What more can I say amazing synergy of all the right ingredints to create an excellent course.
Vernon, thank you so much for all the effort.

Hi Vernon
Thank you for a SMART course!
I have thoroughly enjoyed the past six months,Monday evenings, and will miss them. I found the course to be interesting, versatile and stimulating.
At times I had to wonder at the relevance of certain assignments, which I later discovered made us think 'outside the box', ( not to be found in our textbook.)
I feel confident and professional with my newly aquired skills which I'm excited about actioning in my work place.

The course equips students on multiple levels. It allowed me to tie together my existing knowledge with new perspectives into a robust project management system.
The structure and presentation allows for general training in project management but also allows students to obtain skills focused on immediate areas of concern. The atmosphere is informal but does not lack academic discipline.
From a cost to value perspective one gets fair value. For would be students it is important to commit enough time to the course. Sufficient time is of the essence to extract maximum value from course.
Vernon is a well equipped facilitator that must be commented on a number of points:
He is well versed in his subject mator
He is dedicated
His life experience ads dept and substance to the course
His one on one candour is refreshing and very motivational.
He sets realistic and strict expectations.
One cannot help but to be somewhat infected by is ambition
His sharp inter personal instincts is to the benefit of his students.
